routine dental care

If you suffer from unhealthy teeth and gums you may be risking damaging your heart and body too, so it’s important to keep a healthy mouth

Oral Health Exams

‘The best smile is a healthy one’, ‘prevention is always better than cure’ and ‘you wouldn’t build a house on poor foundations’, are phrases you’ll hear a lot at Love the Dentist.

That’s because we truly believe the best starting point is a healthy mouth. The best way to achieve a healthy mouth is through regular oral health checks. By attending every 6-12 months, your dentist can detect early signs of decay, gum disease and mouth cancer. When spotted early, these issues can be dealt with effectively, with little time and expense required. The longer a problem is left, the cost, complexity and concerns can become larger.

During your oral health review, our dental professionals will carry out a full examination of your mouth, checking for any cavities along with any build up of tartar or plaque on your teeth. They will also perform a mouth cancer check of the soft tissues in your mouth, head, and neck for any bumps and any early signs.

Following this, our experienced dental professionals will carry out an inspection of your gums. After checking your gum health, a visit may be recommended with Sam, our skilled dental therapist, for treatments ranging from helping you to understand which parts of your mouth are being neglected in your at-home care routines to basic hygiene treatment (a scale and polish) or more advanced hygiene treatment, and stain removal.

If required, then you may find that our dental professional’s request x-rays are taken of your mouth. This is done so that any cavities between your teeth can be detected and rectified before they cause further problems in the future. We recommend simple x-rays every 2 years for most patients, but they may be advised more frequently for some. Your dentist will work closely with you to identify any problems with your teeth and gums and will be happy to discuss your treatment options with you.

We will also ask you about your dental needs and concerns so that we may craft a bespoke patient plan for you. Your dentist will happily talk you through the options best suited to you and provide insight into why these may be necessary to achieving your healthier, happier smile.
